My 1st visit to Wilderer was 4 years ago and after trying some of the lovely grappa (Fynbos is my favorite by far), I had to ask my friend Joe who were actually in town to bring me 2 bottles back home. Needless to say, I\'m sipping on it now and can\'t wait till my next visit.

A tranquil setting, away from all the hustle and bustle. It's a whole new world when you enter the gates of Wilderers, a stress reliever and the most wonderful atmosphere in a long, long time. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and taking the time to show interest in your guests. Your standard is superb and your website very informative and interesting.

Somebody at work sold me the Biotic Herbal Bitters to try. I have used it for two months and I felt a change in my body. I'm not sure what the change is, but I felt much more alive. The thing is that, now she can't seem to deliver the orders and I have been without it for a month now. I would like to know how I can get the herbal bitters myself. I have told my colleague about it and she would also like to try it out. Thank you in advance for your response. I wasn't sure if you had a web site, so I did a search on Google as I couldn't wait any longer for her to deliver.

Always was a grappa drinker when visiting Germany. Could not believe that I would ever find Grappa from South Africa in South Africa - and the best I've ever tasted!

There are LOTS of South Africans both English and Afrikaans speaking in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where we now live. There would be a market for sure for your product.

[ Helmut replies: if you know of someone interested in importing our products to Canada, we'd be delighted to hear from you (or anyone else). ]

Trying to find out dates for your Octoberfest. I see that the dates on the site for the Dixieland afternoon are a bit out of date.

[Helmut writes: Hello Bill, thanks for the heads-up. We've just updated the site with the latest news and events.]

I am a fan of your Fynbos, but have sampled nearly all of your range and must congratulate you firstly on your high standard and quality and secondly on the representation of your products.

[Helmut replies: thanks so much for your kind words, Axel. It's always gratifying to hear that the hard work that goes into the crafting of our products and the design of bottles and labels resonates with our valued customers. ]

Very pleasant website.

[Helmut replies: Thank you, Mahmood. Over the coming months you will see the website being improved in various aspects. We now have a completely new series of photographs which will form the basis of the site. As our labels have also been redesigned, these will be incorporated into the new site, too. ]

Helmut Wilderer - Paarl South AfricaHelmut Wilderer - Paarl South Africa

As a successful Restaurateur, Helmut started distilling "Haus-Schnaps" for his restaurant, "Katzenberger's Adler", one of the top rated restaurants in Germany. He subsequently began studying the "Art of Distillation" in Austria, as well as at the University of Hohenheim near Stuttgart under the auspices of Prof. Pieper.

When the monopolies in South Africa fell in 1994, Helmut took the chance to get the very first licence in the country to produce Grappa & Schnaps.

In January 2000, Wilderer's Distillery moved from Stellenbosch to Paarl. Visiting the new Distillery on the Wine-Route (R45) to Franshhoek (just 3 km outside Paarl) is a must for Schnaps lovers.
